By collecting available data from a buildings many systems, sensors, and devises in a common data layer, building owners can simplify, analyze and display key information in a useful manner. The savings realized from ongoing monitoring of building performance include energy costs, reduced equipment maintenance, extended equipment life cycles, plus improved comfort & air quality. Additionally, implementing a smart building strategy positions the building for smart grid integration and on site energy generation when available.
At the conclusion of the Building Performance Assurance Council’s pilot phase there will be an increased focus on smart building systems and the measurement and verification of in use performance.
